Click for Tour Dates

Michael has been a mainstay in Christian music for 20 years and The Celebration Tour clearly shows why, comments Cliff Reiser of Rush Concerts, who promoted the event. What a way to celebrate 20 years. He inspired, moved and shared with the audience in a way only he can do. The combination of Michael W. Smith and MercyMe offered an evening of music and ministry that the audience was totally into. Rush Concerts is proud to have played a small role in this success.

In addition to seeing stellar tour numbers, Smiths 17th audio recording,
The Second Decade 1993-2003, released last week (10/7) to claim the No. 1 position on Nielsen SoundScans Christian and Christian/Mainstream Combined music sales charts. Michael was also the only artist to hold strong with three albums in the Top 50 on the same charts.

The album, celebrating his unparalleled career, offers 13 hits from the past 10 years and two new songs including the record-setting radio single, Signs.

With his most recent albums,
Worship and Worship Again, selling more than two-million copies collectively, and the Worship DVD receiving RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) platinum certification, Smith is undoubtedly one of the highest and most consistent selling artists in Christian music.

PAUL COLMAN TRIO PERFORMS AT "2003 RUN FOR LIFE"

GMA New Artist of the Year, Paul Colman Trio was a featured performer at the "2003 Run for Life," benefitting Nashville-based Hope Clinic for Women. Proceeds go to fund the outreach organization, which exists "to provide a safe, confidential place for anyone struggling with options or past decisions regarding unplanned pregnancies."

'BILLBOARD' RECOGNIZES CHRISTIAN MUSIC ON COVER STORY

With a photo of Stacie Orrico (ForeFront/Virgin) on the cover, "Billboard's" Deborah Evans Price discusses the mainstream success of Orrico along with Mercy Me (INO), Natalie Grant (Curb), Relient K (Gotee) and Steven Curtis Chapman (Sparrow) in the Oct. 25 edition of "Bilboard" magazine.
Noting that Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Jars of Clay and Sixpence None the Richer paved the way for the newcomers, the article points out that Sept. 11 opened up the door for more spiritual interest in the general market.
"Billboard" also observes that mainstream radio acceptance of the groups has been a key factor in gaining worldwide acceptance. Tracy Austin, program director at top 40 KRBE Houston, said in the article, "You can have a Christian artist and still have a great pop song. Songs mean different things to different people. It may be a song about God, but somebody might relate to it as a love song."

JOY WILLIAMS JOINS POINT OF GRACE ON GIRLS OF GRACE CONFERENCES
Williams Also Featured Katinas Fall Tour

(Nashville, Tenn.) October 15, 2003 Dove nominated recording artist Joy Williams will again be part of the highly attended Point of Grace Girls of Grace conferences. Williams, who has been a part of the conference since its launch in fall 2002, is slated for upcoming Minneapolis (Oct. 17 & 18), Louisville, Ky. (Oct. 24 & 25) and Oklahoma City (Nov. 7 & 8) dates. Im thrilled to have been asked to participate in Girls of Grace again, noted Williams.

Im really looking forward to spending time with Terry, Shelley, Denise, and Heather of Point of Grace, as well as with the girls coming to the event. Ive been on the last two and love that the weekends are set up to encourage relationship. Ive been able to share in the lives of the some of the girls at these events and thats especially meaningful.

Point of Grace started the conferences in fall 2002 to encourage teenaged girls to be Godly in every aspect of their lives. Williams has been involved with Girls of Grace as a musical guest since its launch.
We have loved having Joy be a part of our conferences, commented Terry Jones of Point of Grace. When we were thinking of who to ask to come join us this season, Joy was a perfect fit. She is an incredible talent vocally, but what I love even more is her love for the girls that come to GOG. She spends time in the lobby every chance she gets to love on them, stays late and comes early just to be with the girls and be part of the event. What a great role model and sweet girl she is herself. We couldn't love her more for who she is, and for what God is doing in and through her.

Girls of Grace is a two-day conference designed specifically for girls between the ages of 12 and 18 intended to focus on issues facing youth. The event is led by award-winning recording group Point of Grace and also features speakers Nancy Alcorn, founder and president of Mercy Ministries, Susie Shellenberger, editor of BRIO magazine for girls, and Angela Davis, author of Do You Think I am Beautiful.

In addition to the Girls of Grace conferences, Williams will be out on a 13-city fall tour with Gotee Recording group The Katinas. The tour begins on Oct. 25 in Glendale, Ariz. and wraps up Nov. 9 in Denver.

Chapman rubs elbows with The Champ, Willis

This past Tuesday, Sept. 30, Steven Curtis Chapman performed at the Annual Congressional Angels In Adoption Awards Banquet, put on by CCAI, The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute. The gala was held at the International Trade Center/Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C.

In 2001, Steven and Mary Beth Chapman received the National Angel in Adoption Award along with the late Dave Thomas (Wendys). This year, the award was given to Muhammad and Lonnie Ali as well as Bruce Willis for their advocacies towards adoption and foster care. Also on hand for the evening were over 50 members of Congress and 165 Angel recipients, recognized for their adoption advocacy in their hometowns all across the nation. Families and children all came together to share this one very special evening together!!

Chapman entertained the crowd with his song written for his first adopted daughter, When Love Takes You In. He also shared a new song written especially for the evening.

Heres a fun tidbit earlier in the day on Tuesday, Chapman was in a taxi. Guess who left his guitar and case (AND lyrics to his new song!!!) in the trunk of the taxi? Yep. As soon as he realized it, and with no luck getting the guitar back (yet!), he spent the entire afternoon rewriting the song. Alas, he won the crowd over debuting the new tune and did an amazing job! Way to go SCC!!
